Fav Fall Footwear

Footwear Never let’s Me Down

Fall footwear is my fav footwear. Boots, I dream of boots all year round. I have collected shoes for so long & often wonder ‘what’s with the obsession?’. Only one answer comes to mind, footwear always fits, there's no moment of holding your breath while struggling to pull up the zipper or the dance we all do pulling up a pair of a little too tight jeans. As someone who has been up & down in the “curvy” department since I had my babies, I would get so upset with myself while shopping. But the shoe department rarely made me leave feeling that way. Well, there were moments…There was that time, the amazing ankle wrap strappy shoe I was drooling over didn’t work. Why?Because that damn beautiful ankle strap was cutting the circulation off to my foot. Why? Because of my weirdly “thick” ankles. How can I forget the beautiful leather knee highs that I dreamed of wearing with a cute sweater dress. But I couldn’t get them past my thick ankles and up over my '“wide” calves. The search would continue & I would always leave with an awkward to carry bag of multiple pairs of shoes. If the clothes don’t fit, the only right thing to do is buy a few pairs of shoes to make that all black baggy outfit look fresh…..Am I right?

To Trend or Not To Trend

Trends come and go every season. It becomes a challenge year to year to keep up and stay current. My rule to trends is wear what makes you feel good. Feeling good and confidant is the key to making anything look fantastic. I always hear from so many beautiful women “I couldn’t pull that look off.” Lies, that is a lie. You could pull it off and probably look even more fabulous then I do in it. But you’re overthinking it & that self doubt will be your tell that you are uncomfortable. However, you do have to like what you are in & stand up tall. When it comes to buying trends I usually stay away from the really out there trends. I will buy a classic that has a small flair of one trend that even if it’s out the next season I can make it work. In my opinion try to never buy a ‘splurge’ item that is all trend. Do buy that amazing Black Louboutin that you will have for years and wear 100’s of times. Don’t buy that Prada metallic knee high, choose a budget brand that has a similar style with the trend you are looking for.

Fall 2021

This year is no different then the ones before it.  We say good bye to the beloved stiletto & for whatever reason, embrace the ‘comfortable ugly’ shoe like Crocs.  However boots are still where it’s at.  We all get a little excited pulling them out of the closet for the first wear of the fall season.  From the forever classic combat boot or the comeback of the 80’s platforms.  Metallic knee highs and textures are having their moment. Cowboy boots are back & this might be the trend I chose to find an updated version of my past buys.  I just haven’t found the pair that makes me feel that ‘YEE HAW’ yet…I’m not even sorry for that bad joke.

The classic combat & Chelsea boot is where my loyalty will continue to stay with this year.  I love these styles for so many reasons but the first is the versatility of how you can style them. You can wear them casual with a pair of leggings, a hoodie (bunny hug for you Saskatchewan folks), and cute coat for an effortless chic look.  Or you can dress them up a bit and be a bit more edgy with a midi dress & leather jacket.  However you style them they are here for a long time so if you are going to have a ‘splurge’ purchase that’s where I think your money should go.

My Favs

Last season I snatched up the Sam Edelman Lydell Boot in black.  I wore them so much that I ended up getting them in the beige color as well.  I loved them for their comfort and how easy they were to slip on and off without having to tie them everytime.  Not only did I love them so did my daughter so we ended up getting her a pair as well.  My second go to was also by Sam Edelman and it was the Chelsea Lug boot.  Living up in the great white north we get snow in October and it lasts sometimes till May, so being waterproof is a huge bonus and these are!
